How does DMARC work?
DMARC combines two established standards into a single layer of protection — and reports back to you on what happens to your email.
Sender Policy Framework
Defines which servers may send email for your domain. An unauthorised server fails the SPF check.
DomainKeys Identified Mail
Adds a cryptographic signature to every outgoing message. Recipients check whether the signature matches the sending domain.
The third layer
Combines SPF and DKIM, defines what happens when a check fails (deliver, quarantine or reject) — and sends you the reports.
